The Swatch Group CEO Nicolas G. Hayek Died for Heart Disease
According to a statement released by Swatch Group, Nicolas G. Hayek, Founder and Chairman of Swatch Group, that was died suddenly on June 28 because of heart disease in Biel, Switzerland. He was 82. Hayek was died at work.
Hayek played the pivotal role in the reoganization of the Swiss watch industry after it came under threat from cheap quartz competition, creating the Swatch Group from the remains of ASUAG and SSIH in the early 1980s.
In 1985, he took the post the predecessor of the Swatch group - Switzerland micro electron and watch company in charge. Afterward, Hayeke promotes the Swatch plastic wristwatch, regards as the meritorious person who have saves the Swiss clock's and watch's industry.
Today, Swatch Group is the largest watch manufacturer in the world. Forbes magazine had him at position 232 on its 2010 list of the world’s billionaires, with assets valued at USD3.9 billion.
The Swatch Group is now led by Hayek's son, G. Nicolas Hayek Jr, who had already been the CEO for the better part of the last decade.
At present, the Swatch group has Swatch, Omega, Tissot, Longines, Breguet and so on famous brand, the year turnover reaches more than 50 hundred million Swiss francs (1 US dollar to be equal to 1.09 Swiss francs), has the staff 24,000 people.
